The European Postgraduate Residency is an intensive summer-program for young emerging artists. Its goal is to create a vital platform to experiment, meet and exchange ideas, free of the expectations of the art market and institutions. Participants are invited to live and work in empty buildings in areas with structural and demographic changes. Using buildings that will be demolished soon allows a more experimental approach in spatial interventions and being the last temporary inhabitant offers the possibility to react on the history and narrative of a space.
The residency’s principles are openness, innovation and exchange. Being organized by young artists, it does not offer advisors or teachers, but encourages participants to join the residency with a rough idea and an open mind that allows spontaneous collaborations. It is specifically aimed at artists who graduated recently and take their first steps into the art world. Applications are accepted from artists of all disciplines, as well as from other professionals that are interested in collaborating with the artists.
